Just to catch up on the recent happenings that I have failed to document:

Sophie and I planted a small garden.  Sophie has been working in the school garden and has really enjoyed it.  I have been wanting to do a garden for a long long time, so when she asked me about it I jumped on it.  We decided that this is a trial and we will learn from our mistakes.  So here's to hoping that our garden will produce produce.

The school also had an art show at the end of the year.  It was at the arena and there was art EVERYWHERE.  It was pretty cool.  Sophie was not impressed and did not want to stand by her masterpiece for a picture.

Molly, however, was very proud of her masterpiece and wanted to show her dog off.  I was really impressed with Molly's masterpiece as well.  I didn't know she had that little skill.

My BFF came down for a visit.  It's always so good to see them.  It was exactly was my heart needed.

They are the sweetest little family.  Dylan is leaving later this summer for the Navy.  I am scared and excited for him at the same time.  I hope we can all get together at least one more time before he leaves.

We all attended Aftershock while they were here.  It was an awesome student led worship assembly held at Scrapper Arena.  I loved that we all were there together.  It was amazing to see that many students of all ages come to worship God.  It truly was a blessing.

AWANAs is over for the year.  These girls love it.  It is a little sad because this is Sophie's last year for AWANAs.  (I hate that she is growing up.  She will be moved up to youth this fall.)  We just got a new youth pastor and I think we have a good youth group.  I am excited to watch her grow, but sad that she is growing.  Doesn't make sense, but that's what I feel.

Larry went hunting twice this year in Missouri and a thousand times in Arkansas.  He brought home three turkeys though.  It makes for a good southern supper.  We had to trick the kids and tell them there was chicken strips and turkey strips.  They loved the "chicken" but not the turkey.

We went to the Peach Festival in town.  Sophie and Molly had never been on the firetruck.  So we took advantage of this situation.

Finally.... Sadie came home for the summer.  We are all excited that she is home, but nobody is more happy than me.  I know that every summer could be the last summer she comes home to our house to hang out and leave dirty clothes all over the place.  One day soon she will have her own house and own family.  I will totally miss having them all living at my house, but I will totally go to her house and throw and clean clothes all over her house.

Prom was this past weekend.  Talk about a whirlwind!  It was indeed.  I didn't realize how much it stressed me out until last night.  I was exhausted!

It all started Friday after work.  I went to the school to help decorate.  I didn't stay as long as Sadie did, but I put some time in.  Then Saturday, Sadie had to work and got off in time to make it to her hair and makeup appointment at 3:30.

Sweet Kristi and her precious family were in for a funeral.  They showed up for her hair appointment.  I'm so glad they did!  They kept her provided support and kept her (and me) grounded when time started to be a factor.

I kept getting updates and pictures from Kristi as to the progress that was being made.  I will admit.  I started freaking out when it got to be 5:30 and 6:00 and Sadie still wasn't done.  I was trying hard not to freak out because Sadie started freaking out at 4:30.

I don't blame anyone because there were a ton of girls there trying to get their hair done.  But poor little Sadie was the last one there.  She missed out on group pictures with her friends.  She and Cameron didn't make it to Cameron's house for pictures either.  But they made it to prom and they had a really good time. (Prom pictures in next post.)

Cameron got to the house just as Sadie pulled in.  I had time for a few pictures outside.  Then they were off!!

Then Kristi, me, all our children, and my Larry went to the country club for a little party.  I loved our little time together.  The kids played and had a big big time. Kristi and I reminisced some. She even busted out some Jr/Sr Banquet pictures from years ago.

Mandy was there too.  It was neat to get a picture all together while our kids played all together.  There was hot dogs, champagne, and a band.

We hung out there until prom was over.  Then I jumped in the car and went to the school to help clean up while Kristi drove away in the darkness.  It was sad to me and a little ironic.  Sad because as I was driving, I thought about my prom years and how sad I was at the end of mine my senior year because it felt as though I was never going to see my friends again.  When in reality, life doesn't end there and you will definitely see your friends again.....maybe not as often as I did then, or as often I would like now, or even in the way that I would like to, but life has to go on.  There are friends that I haven't seen since high school that really have a special place in my heart still.  There are friends that have moved off and friends that have families of their own right here in my hometown.  Friends that I don't talk to very often but think of often and old friends that I talk to on a frequent basis.  They are still in my life and a part of me, whether it is sharing our families through Facebook, a phone call, a prayer, or a little memory just pops up out of the middle of nowhere.  Ironic, because Sadie was at her Jr/Sr banquet and I was with friends talking about ours many years ago.  Ironic because I shared everything with my BFF Kristi and she was here with me on prom night just like she was 20ish years ago.    A lot of things change, but some things will never change.

We made the trek to Lincoln this weekend. We left town not really knowing where we were going. Thank God for smart phones!! The weather was dreary and foggy but we were pumped!

We were going to the play offs and my BFF lives close and we were invited to stay with her.

It didn't take long for the little girls to take a nap. I don't blame them, I would have too.

But they didn't stay asleep very long. They were so excited!!

We stopped in Fayetteville and ate then quickly got to the football field. Kristi and her family got there right after we did.

It was super cold and windy!! I wasn't expecting it to be that cold. I was worried about Molly making it because this would be the first time Molly stayed the entire game. She did fine!! I did have to go to the car and get snuggles at half time, but it pacified her the rest of the game.

We lost to the wolves, and it was sad for all the kids, especially the seniors who realized that was their last game together. But Sadie got in a better mood as soon as we were off to Kristi's. We did some visiting and playing for a while when we got home. Then laid down for some rest.

(These photos are borrowed/stolen from Kristi. As are more following. I took my camera and then didn't use it as much as I should have.)

The next morning, Kristi's bushytail got up at the crack of dawn and cooked breakfast for everyone!! When I finally woke up, I got dressed and we did a little shopping and she showed me around her little hometown.

I was glad to get to see where she works, shops, goes to church, Presley goes to daycare, etc. made me feel even closer to her, if that's possible.

I love our friendship. I love Dylan and Presley. I even got to see her Larry.  He reminds me a lot of my Larry. So quiet and laid back.  I felt right at home with them all. They are family!!

It was hard to leave, but we will definately go back to visit. Thank you Kristi!!! Love you bunches!!

****cheer pictures from the game coming later. I managed to take a few even with the cold, wind, and Molly.
