What's in a dream?

Sophie has been having bad dreams. I can not imagine what a 2 year old could possibly have bad dreams about! But she will wake up crying and usually saying, "No Mama." When I go in to check on her, she will be sitting up with her eyes closed, shaking, and crying. I usually have to wake her up to convince her that everything is okay.
I think I have associated Sophie's bad dreams to her running a low grade fever. I know if she wakes up crying and screaming that I may as well put her in the bed with me because she will be up and down the rest of the night.
It's not consistent or very often that she does this, thank goodness, because it does make for a long night.
Dreams have always interested me anyway. I've always wondered how your complex brain keeps working when you are asleep and have no control over your thoughts and emotions. I don't dream every night, and sometimes I know that I was dreaming about something but can't remember it, but when I do remember them they are usually pretty colorful.
Speaking of colors....I have heard some people say that they dream in black in white. Some people dream of people they don't know. Some people believe that what they dream will come true. My dreams are usually far fetched or the kind of dreams that don't make sense and make you say "What?"
For example: It has been several weeks ago, but I went to sleep one night and somewhere between the time of saying my prayers and the alarm clock going off, I dreamed that I stopped to get me a coke at Redemart. The usual clerk was not working, but Julie was. I don't remember asking her why she was working at Redemart, but I do remember that I thought it was odd in my dream too. I went to the fountain drink dispenser and fixed me a coke like I usually do about 4 days a week. I went to the counter to pay for it and visited with Julie for a while. Not a long time, just chit chat mostly. Then Julie keyed in some numbers on the cash register and announced $8.75. (for a fountain Coke mind you!!!) I was somewhat shocked.
Usually, they don't charge me for fountain drinks at Redemart. I always attempt to pay for my drink, and never expect it for free, but more times than not they don't charge me for a drink regardless of what else I purchase. However, I thought that $8.75 was a little high for a fountain drink regardless. I asked Julie if she was sure that the price was right. She assured me that it was and that she knew how to work the register. I did not throw a fit...I did argue with Julie perhaps because she is my friend...and because of all the cokes I had gotten there and not paid for, but I do remember getting in my car and calling my Mom and telling her that I would never go to Redemart again.
Now what in the world made my unconscious brain come up with that?
But now that I'm thinking about it.....if Sophie would have dreamed about going to Redemart and they not having any Bug Juice there. She would probably be crying and mad at Mrs. Julie, which would make a bad dream and could possibly make her wake up crying. Who knows??

Wonder if she is planning on a summer job, since she will have all that time on her hands. Interesting!

OMG! summer job!? Bite your tongue. Those two words should not go together unless you are 16, desparate for money and still think working for minimum wage is a good thing! LOL

And Amy, that price I charged you for your coke was just to allieve your guilty conscience of all those free cokes you stole! I mean you are the police for heaven's sake. Just trying to keep you honest. Love ya.
