Sophie Glyn

What a beautiful soul.  She is growing more beautiful every single day.

Fourteen years old.  It's crazy.  How did she get that old?
How did she get that beautiful?
How did she get so smart and kind?
I am super proud of her and everything she is.
I hope she knows how much I love her every single day.

To celebrate Sophie's birthday, we had a lake day.
She wanted to invite MeMe and Kaye.

What's better than family time on your birthday?

A little tubing.

I little swimming.

A little knee boarding.

A little sunning.

A lot of love.

It's always a great day on the lake.

Summer time and water goes together like peanut butter and jelly, Mac and cheese, popcorn and pickles, French fries and ranch dressing.

Sadie didn't lifeguard at the pool this year.  She stayed in Little Rock with a couple of roommates.  She worked two jobs: one at Peds and one at Commerce Title.
She did come home a few weekends and filled in at the pool, just like old times.

The little monkeys were glad to have her.  They got tired of being there without her. (kinda)

Lake days have also become one of our favorites.

We went with some friends and hung out one day.

We tubed and jumped off the barge all day long.

Fishing is also a favorite.  I think this year we went so much that we burned the girls out.

Summer trips to MeMe's to do yard cleaning is fun too.
Somehow Meme and I were the only ones that got sweaty and dirty.
I don't know how that happened.

Super Summer is also a favorite.  Sophie went to super summer again.   She had a big time!

She doesn't get her phone much while she is there, but she did get me some pictures.

I'm proud of her for being involved in the youth group.  She is really growing and it shows.

Lake Day - Take Two

We were able to sneak in another lake day this year.  We planned it strategically around everyone's schedule and didn't realize that we planned it on a weekend that Sadie was going to a concert.
She missed out this time.  (We just had too many schedules to work around and hers is always so busy that we would have never been able to go again this summer.)

MeMe, Trisha, Rowdy, and Spencer came down and met us there.

It was windy and a little chilly at times even out of the water, but especially if you were wet.

The kids didn't seem to mind much.
They rode the tube and knee board and swam like fish.

We all took turns and cheered on the ones behind the boat.

We always secretly wait for the fall because that is really what everyone is waiting for.

The girls outnumbered Rowdy, but he didn't seem to care.
He got right in there.

MeMe and Trisha participated in all events.  They enjoyed the frigid water a little more than I did.

Larry was the captain, as usual.  He did ride the knee board once.  Once was enough though.  He pulled a muscle and didn't want to get back on.  It is noted that he got up the first time.

MeMe rode the tube with Molly.

Trisha rode the tube with Rowdy.

Molly and Rowdy were generally partners -

because Spencer and Sophie are always partners.

They did switch it up though.  Before it was all over I think everybody rode with everybody and rode alone too.

We found a cove eventually where the wind wasn't so bad.  We hung out there some occasionally.

I don't know if it was Rowdy and Spencer's first time on the tube or not, but they did really really good and seemed to love it.

It just took a little bit to warm up when you got done though.

I hope they will come back next summer and do it again with us.
Maybe the weather will cooperate with us next year.
