We decided to break up the cold winter days and take a little trip.
Weekend getaways are my favorite.

We packed our bags and hit the road.

First we went bowling.  We played a few games and laughed at how Molly beat me and Sophie.

We turned our stinky shoes back in and hit the road again.

We went to Shreveport and got a hotel room.
The next morning, we got up and went to the aquarium.

I was super impressed at the aquarium.  I didn't really know what to expect but it was a good considering the size.

They had every kind of sea creature that you could think of and even those that I didn't know existed.

Even sharks!

We spent quite a bit of time with the sharks.

Then we went into the sting ray room.

That may have been my favorite part.  We bought food to feed the sting rays.
It took lots and lots and lots of convincing to get Molly to feed the sting rays.  Sophie, who is usually scared of everything, loved it.  Molly was scared to death to stick her hand in there and let them eat the fish out of her hand.  She got a little better before we left.
Well kinda.

I was impressed with the whole experience and that it was so close to home.

We even got to touch some jellyfish, the non-stinging type.

We also found a science museum and checked that out.

There were some really cool things there.

We played around in there for almost three hours.

We ended the day at Joe's Crab Shack.

Then headed home.

This has been a busy week for us. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, Sophie had cheer clinic to get ready to cheer at the ballgame tonight with the big cheerleaders. Wednesday, Sadie and Sophie had dance. In addition to those after school activities.....Monday evening, we went to the fair parade and Thursday evening we went to the fair.
I managed to pull together a few pictures from this week. Although not very good quality, you get the idea.

And of course, school is in progress. Below is a picture that Sadie's science teacher posted on Edline. I love Edline. I can view Sadie's assignments, projects coming up, and grades.

Sophie loves the fair.

I love the fair atmosphere....not the carnies!

Sadie loves the big rides!

But she still rode the slide with Sophie one time.

Good times!!!

Last Thursday Julie and I met at the country club with all of the chil-ren. I even brought along some that don't belong to me. Sophie, Trista, and Emmy had a splashin' good time in the kiddie pool.

I tried with all my might to get some cool air.born.flip.shots! I wish you could see these facial expressions! They just kill me. Walter did not take his eyes off the camera.

Alex hit more belly busters and back busters than the law of water should dish out. But he just kept of jumping and flippin.

Sadie refuses to acknowledge that dorks wear goggles unless they are snorkeling. I tell her what a tard she looks like all the time. Maybe this picture will teach her how to hold her nose. hehehe

No goggles there. More beautiful!

This is Sam's very graceful jump...also never taking his eyes off the camera.

All of the kids big and small had a good time. Summer fun has just begun!!

Redneck Trailer Trash

Speaking of trick or treating.... some of my "friends," and I use that term loosely when it comes to this post, have dressed up for Halloween for work. All names will be changed to protect the guilty. But I would like to introduce you to the crew. And One. It. Is.

This is Hank. We call him Sly for short. He works at the warehouse on the good part of town, when he shows up that is. He has a rugged past, but his present is pretty shabby itself. He is strung out on candy corn so bad it ain't even funny.

This is his cousin/girlfriend Tabby. She is a little on the friendly side. She spends her nights at the bar stripping to support Sly's habit. Don't let her fool you though, her addition is snorting pixie sticks.

This is Hank's wife, Susie. She doesn't have a clue about Hank's addiction or affection for his cousin. Bless her heart, she is expecting thier 5th child. Most say that she has her own addictions to the corn, but I think liqour and Hank are her number one problems.

And this is Hank's mother, Martha Jane. She has birthed so many children that the locals can't even tell you how many. Some of them aren't seen anymore. We don't know if she ate them or sold them, or if they are still in her filthy cockroach infested house and we just don't know it.

Regardless, this is a short introduction to the family. Glad you got to meet them today.
Happy Halloween!

2008 is going to be GREAT!

VS ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?

Superbowl time again. My prediction is definately the Patriots are headed to play the big game with their undefeated streak, and I'm betting that Green Bay will be kicking off to them. Brett is going to have to play tough if he gets there. I'll be cheering for him. Go Packers! (I still love my Cowboys though.) Hang in there Tony, there's always next year!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also Oaklawn fans,

The ponies are ready to run! Races open January 18th. Calvin Borel ridin' the rail....
------------------------------------------------------------------

I have lots to look forward to this year. A trip to New Orleans is definately in the planning as we speak. A couple of trips to the track are a must! I am going to get my first pedicure this year, curtesy of Diane, YAY! And that's just a few of the important things that jumped out immediately when I thought 2008.

I have been taking my time preparing a New Year's Resolution list. I think perhaps you are suppose to have it ready by New Year's Day, but my excuse was that I was in Dallas getting ready to go to the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day and I had no time to prepare a list then. So, I will complete the list now, for it takes lots of thought, and I will have a Valentine's Day Resolution List. I'm hoping that I can stick to it. Plus, it will take some of the pressure off of Valentine's Day, that usually sucks anyway, and will give me something to focus on.
Until then.... chips, dip, and football......$2 bets, hot dogs, and horses. See ya at the races!!

New Series on ABC

This new television show is based from the characters in a series of James Patterson books that I have been reading. Very good actors...very good drama. Check it out....I'm a fan after one episode.

New Show

I watched a new game show the other night on TV called "The Singing Bee." I really liked it. It rates up there with "Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader."

They pick audience members randomly to come onstage as contestants. The house band, if you will, starts to sing a song. When they stop, the contestant has to finish the verse or chorus. I wouldn't want to sing, but I would for $50,000. I would be kicking tail on that show!!! I think I'm hooked.
