Larry and I also went to visit the Hoover Dam. It was breathtaking. I hate to keep using the word amazing, but it is truly astonishing at how big this dam is. We didn't take the tour, because of time, but I could only imagine how interesting the history is to the building and maintaining of this operation.

Security was very tight near the dam. Traffic was crawling for miles before the security checkpoint. It was seriously like crossing a border. I thought it was neat because you can see yourself change time zones. There's a sign before you change. That was cool.

This is a shot of the new bridge that they are building over the dam. Construction completion is estimated at 2-28-2010. This picture does not even come close to depicting how high the bridge is over the gorge. WoW!

Again, it is hard to tell how large this wall of concrete is, but if you look at those tiny little dots on top, they are actually vehicles. Yes, I stood there with my mouth gaped open.

I don't think they will ever have to worry about water flowing over this dam. But I wouldn't want to be anywhere around if it did.
This was our first golf course. It was named Boulder Creek. I forgot my camera on the second golf day at Alainte, but the courses were pretty much the same. Beautiful mountains in the distant, hot desert all around the well manicured courses. And lots and lots of bunkers. I couldn't stay out of the bunkers to save my life.

Larry played well. As usual. He can adapt well to the different courses and different challenges. There were no trees, only a few palm trees here and there and lots of desert brush. The greens were very fast. Very very fast. And the wind blew about 30 knots starting at about 11:42 am.

I have been playing well lately and was excited about playing on these courses. The greens hurt my feelings because I didn't know how to putt them, and I couldn't stay out of the freakin bunkers! I shot around 100 everyday, but Larry said that it was good for my level at those courses.

The first day I couldn't do anything for playing photographer. The scenery was gorgeous! I would have never guessed that dirt and rock mountains would be so pretty in the desert. But they were awesome to look at. The second day I couldn't do anything for repeating, "I wish I hadn't of forgotten my camera."

This was a very interesting sight. They had a skydiving setup right next to the golf course. When I say right next to (in the desert) it means about 20 miles away. Everything looks closer. But we watched planes swoop down and drop crazy people, i mean skydivers, from the sky. It was a sight to see the multicolored parachutes floating through the air. I really hope the one whose chute didn't open is okay. I've worried about him since.

These little fellows were
everywhere. At home we have squirrels. These were chipmunks I think. Some were a little brave and came really close. I guess looking for food, or maybe water. I didn't share mine.

The courses were very nice and professional. They prepared the carts before our arrival. Ours was ready with two towels, and ice chest, and tees. Each course had cart girls that would drive around the course all day on a cart made sort of like an ice cream truck that had drinks and snacks on it.
I was very pleased with Expedia and with Golf Adventures. Everything went smooth just the way it was booked. The flights, the hotel, the rent-a-car, and the tees times. Everything was taken care of. All we had to do was show up. I will definitely use them again.
