Yesterday, while on the way home, I was telling Sophie a story for lesson purposes about what happened to her friend, Olivia. This was a true story that I thought would bring a big impact and hit home for Sophie.
I told Sophie that over the weekend Olivia was jumping on her bed and fell off and busted her head on the TV stand. It made a huge gash and was bleeding really bad and she was taken to the emergency room to see the doctor. The doctor looked at her head and had to put three staples in her head to close the hole that the TV stand made in her head. She was intently listening to the story as I drug it out and told her how bad it hurt, how scared she was, and how much blood was everywhere. I told her that staples hurt so much more than stitches and Olivia would have to go back to the doctor in a few days to get the staples out after it started healing.
Sophie was very concerned and asked if Olivia was going to be okay. I assured her that she was going to be fine, but it hurt really bad.
I then asked Sophie if we could learn anything from Olivia's story. She very quickly said, "Yeah, good thing my TV isn't close to my bed."
