While I have been away from this blog, life has kept right on going. That's the funny thing about life, it just keeps on going. Mine, yours, every one's around us.
Christmas was very good....Except we had snow on Christmas Day, and I fretted about my mom and Wayne making it back home in the weather, and our electricity went out, and we spent the night in our local motel. Not that it was awful, we made an adventure out of it, and it was good too.
There have been many happenings between then and now, but I don't feel need to go over every one at this time, as I have waited too long to post. I will try to reflect back on those details periodically, maybe.
But to suddenly jump to the present time, we have celebrated birthdays in the last several weeks. Sadie turned 15 this year. I can hardly believe it actually. We went to Pablanos on her birthday, her choice. I didn't inform the staff that it was her birthday because the last time I did that, about 5 years ago, she cried when they brought the sombrero and placed it on her head. She cried the entire time that they sang "Happy Birthday Chica" while playing on the accordion. She was so embarrassed at the attention that was brought to her in a public restaurant. So, I didn't even attempt it this time. The plan was to just eat as a family.
Unfortunately for Sadie, her golf coach, Mr. Tony, was in the restaurant and knew that it was her birthday and HE informed the staff, who then brought the sombrero, instruments, and singing to our table. I have to say, she handled it well and I think even enjoyed the attention this time, not to mention the free sopapilla.
Sadie is the perfect teenager right now. I hope that doesn't change. We have a great mother-daughter relationship and are really good friends too. She is involved in everything she can be involved in at school. She is the President of Student Council, President of FCCLA, and Secretary of Honor Society. She is very responsible and a great kid to be around. I don't know what I did to deserve her, but I am so blessed that she is in my life. She is like sunshine to me, and her little sister wants to do everything she does. What a gift!!
Then two weeks later, we celebrated Molly's 2nd birthday. She is the definition of a two year old. We didn't do a fancy party for her this year. I decided to wait until she knows what's going on before doing all of that. She was fine with that. (She didn't know any different)
She is at such a good age right now. She is learning so much every day. She loves playing on the ipad, dancing, cheering, watching home movies, counting, and Dora. Her vocabulary is growing every day! When I pick her up from daycare, she wants to know where everyone is. She asks, "Daddy?" Before I answer she says, "Work." She asks, "Sadie?" Before I answer she says, "School." She asks, "Sophie?" Before I answer she says, "School." Then when we walk outside she asks, "Raining?" I say no. She asks, "Cold?" I say, "No, not really cold." She asks, "Hot?" I say, "No, not hot yet." Every.Single.Day.
She is good about putting her toys away. She loves puzzles and books and fruit loops. We haven't started to potty train yet, but I am thinking it is getting close to time. She is very friendly and will talk to strangers in Walmart, but she doesn't want them to talk back to her. She immediately gets shy when they respond. She keeps us all laughing constantly and she laughs when we laugh, even when she doesn't know what she's laughing about.
She used to be a 'Daddy only girl', but I am growing more in popularity. She freely gives hugs and kisses away now, which I absolutely love love love. She is a little prissy tail and we all don't know what we would do without her!
I thought Sophie would be a little bummed with all the birthday celebrations going on, and her being left out. But she's good with the fact that her birthday is in the summer. She's already planning her party. Besides, she just loves a good reason to eat cake!!
