Sadie was selected to go to RYLA camp this year. RYLA stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Award. There are three selected each year and it is an honor to get selected and go to the three day camp. It is a full three days packed with loads of activities to encourage and develop leadership skills as well as team building skills.
Sadie was excited about going and I knew she would have a great time. She left on Thursday morning and came home on Sunday morning. She made new friends and hasn't stopped talking about all of their activities and how much fun she had.
I asked her to send me pictures and I got one selfie when she arrived to let me know she made it safely. If fact, I really didn't get to talk to her that much the whole time she was gone. She was busy. Their schedule was pretty tight.
I knew she would take pictures. So I just patiently waited until they got posted and then I stole them.
There were rope courses, high walls to climb, canoe exercises, and lots of other stuff ground level too. Sadie is not scared of heights, but she said it was a little creepy being 20 feet off the ground even when you are harnessed.
She said she and her partner rocked the courses like a "beast" and she exceeded her own expectations.
They were given a colored handkerchief when they got there that decided what team they would be on. Sadie was on the red team. She said there were 70+ students there from all over the state. So you were put with people that you didn't know. She didn't see her own classmates much at all.
Not that it Sadie down either way. She makes friends wherever she goes. In fact, that was one of the things she was looking forward to most. That's just her personality. She enjoys meeting new people.

Proud of her! When Dylan went on his trip, he finally sent me a picture of snow. He was glad to be home. Ok, I was glad to have him home too! He's such a Momma's boy! Love him.
