Sophie left on Monday morning going to church camp at Siloam Springs. She has gone to church camp several years in a row with Spencer so this is not that new to her. What is new to her, and to me, is that she is staying the whole week...even nights. MeMe won't be there to pick her up every afternoon. I won't get to talk to her every day. This is her first trip away from home without me or MeMe.
I know she has been excited about this and looking forward to the camp for several weeks. She has been counting down the days. But the morning of - when I was driving her to the meeting point to load up, I could tell she was a little nervous. That alone made me a ball of nerves. She was still excited, just a little apprehensive too. I could see it all over her face.
She knows everyone in the group because they are all from our church. She even knows the counselors, because they are from our church. So, I know she will be fine. I just also know it will be a long week not being about to talk to her.
Here they are getting ready to leave.
I cried.
I checked all day long because Mr. Jason said he was going to blog all week to keep us updated. I wore my phone out checking for updates. He posted when they arrived. He posted a picture of the camp. He posted a picture of their dinner. He posted a picture of their speaker for the night. It wasn't until I got this picture that I felt at ease.
I mean...Look at the smile on that girl's face!!!
