Sophie is deep enough into 4th grade for a good evaluation of it.  She has decided she LOVES elementary school.  Up until this point, she really hasn't been excited about school since kindergarten.  But it is so good to know that she is having a good time every day when I have to send her off to school.

I follow the school pages on Facebook and I was surprised to see her picture on it.  She had told me about the demonstration, but the pictures made it so much better.!

Some of the high schools students came over and did a demonstration about germs.  Just in time for flu season.  Sophie was one of the volunteers for the demonstration.

They dipped their hands in flour and were told to touch everything... people, objects, everything...  Sophie was amazed at the visualization about spreading germs and the ability to pick them up from everything you touch and everyone that touches you.  She told me all about it when she got home from school.

In other news.... Look who made all A's this 9 weeks!!!  She was so so so excited about this.  I think this is the first time she has ever gotten all A's.  She usually has a B thrown in there somewhere.  I am super proud of her and even more proud that she is excited about it.

These pictures I got off of Facebook also.  They also got Scrapper t-shirts for their accomplishment.  Way to go Sophie!!!!

Speaking of assemblies...

They had a DWI assembly at the high school last week.  They East Lab had put together a couple of videos on distracted driving, wearing your seatbelt, and driving under the influence.  The videos were very good.

We were invited to speak about one or all of these topics.  Officer Tim did a great job and the students were very attentive.

Afterwards we played a little with the "drunk goggles."  These girls couldn't even find the line to walk on.  This is a good visual aid to show impairment and lowered reaction time.

They had fun with it too.  Look at this crazy kid that had to get all up in the middle of it. She volunteers for everything!
