Larry and Molly thought about going too, but decided that it would be better to stay home this time. Molly loves the cheerleaders, but I didn't know if she would love four hours of it.
Cameron did decided that he wanted to go too. Sadie was excited for him to see the action. Sophie was excited because Cameron was going to be there. Sadie has to remind Sophie that Cameron is HER boyfriend, not Sophie's. (THANK GOD THEY ARE NOT CLOSER IN AGE!)
We made the trip and got settled in for the rest of the evening. I absolutely love to watch all the teams preform. I will admit....I get a little nervous too right before they go on.
We were first to preform. The girls did a great job! Then we had to wait through the rest of the competition to see how they placed.
Sadie and Kailee had these t-shirts made for Cameron and Trace. I thought they were pretty cute. I also thought the guys were a good sport for wearing them. Sadie thought so too obviously!
They wanted a picture of the four of them all together. I was cracking up at them trying to take a simple picture. The girls were bossing them and telling them where to stand. I couldn't just leave it with the one good picture because it took forever to get just one.
Then after every team had preformed, it was time for awards. I'm not sure why there were only two in their division. There were more than that last year.
They did get first place and an award for best dance routine. They were pumped. Van Buren won overall. I was okay with that. I liked everything about them except their uniforms. But then again they didn't ask me and I'm kinda partial to orange and black.
Sweet Emily was there for support even though she couldn't preform because of another knee injury. I couldn't help but shed a couple of tears for her when no one was looking. It broke my heart to see the beautiful smile on her face because I could see the hurt in her heart. She had to attend the funeral of her mother that same morning. It doesn't get any harder than that!
Sadie and Cameron had to pose with the trophy. I'm not sure what Cameron did to get to hold the plaque and trophy except just be there with his shirt on. But I didn't argue. They are pretty cute together.
What really melted my heart was this sweet sincere hug that was exchanged between sisters. The older Sadie gets, the better their relationship gets. I know there is tons of love between them and they will always be there for each other. It makes my heart happy and it makes me proud.
State competition is only two weeks away. There will be lots and lots of hard work between now and then. Bring it on!!! (haha....the movie)
