The trip to Albert Pike wasn't planned.  But sometimes spur of the moment is good.  The minute I told them to get their swimsuits, the excitement was unbearable.  I knew the water was going to be too cold.  But I knew they would want to try it anyway.  We loaded up an ice chest, some chairs, and some towels and took off.

I was right.  That water was freezing!!!

It didn't take too long though.  They got right in there.

It was sad to me because this is a beautiful state park.  Absolutely beautiful campground area!!  But it is all grown up now and closed.  The flood a few years ago shut it down.  You can't even camp overnight there anymore.  Such a tragedy.  So sad.  I hate that so many lives were lost, but I also hate that this beautiful place is going to waste.

These girls didn't know the difference though.  They only saw shallow water and rocks.

Molly had a hard time getting around on the rocks.  She tried walking with her flip flops on, but that was a chore too.  We need to get her some water shoes.  Maybe that might help.  Sophie was a pro.  She was up and down that river bed in no time.  Even chasing Molly around and threatening to splash her.

Larry got in and helped Molly maneuver.  I mostly stayed on the bank in my lawn chair and took pictures.

It didn't take long for Sophie and Molly to get used to the water.  They even sat down in it and splashed around in it.

Sophie had just a little too much fun splashing.  I even had to threaten her a little bit when she got to close to me.  But I love that face of pure happiness and joy.  There's nothing better than seeing that.

These girls are something!!  They love each other so much and can't stand to be apart.  Most of the time they are arguing with each other, but sweet moments like this is what I live for.  How adorable!!

They finally did guilt me into getting in the water with them.  It was colder than ice water to me.  It almost stung a little it was so cold.  Sure it was only about ankle deep or more in the middle, but I had to go through water above my knee to get to the middle.  That was the hard part.  Not much I wouldn't do for these girls though.  I lived through it and we had a good time.  The girls want to go back.  I'm holding out until the temps get up a little more.
