Friday started with a trip to Arkadelphia. This was Day 1 of tryout practice. Practice started at 4:00pm. We got to stay in the room for about 15 minutes then we were ushered out.
They stretched and warmed up and were given the routine for a dance and the fight song. Then they ran a mile and came back and and went over the dances again. The girls and I hung out outside and played until Sadie got out.
We got home about 9:30. Larry was out of town on a turkey hunting trip so the little girls got to sleep with me. We piled up in the bed and went fast to sleep.
Saturday morning we got up and headed back to Arkadelphia for Early Registration and Cheer Practice. We may or may not have had to drive a little fast to get there. I was under the impression that practice was at 9:30am. Sadie realized on the way up there that it started at 9:00am. We made it there at 9:01am. Lucky for Sadie, the coach's alarm didn't go off that morning and she was late too. So she didn't even know Sadie was late.
We threw Sadie out of the car and went to McDonald's for breakfast. This practice was short because interviews started at 10:30. We picked Sadie back up at 10:15 and made our way to the JPAC to sign in for registration at 11:00. We got all signed in and took Sadie to Sonic to get something to drink.
Then we went back to the gym because Sadie's interview was at 11:30 am. The interview process was weird to me. It was an individual interview with the coach and the three judges. In the packet it said that they would have to know history of the college and football and such, but Sadie said there were no questions at all about college. They were all personal questions about her.
I guess looking back on it, it makes sense. In high school they know all the girls trying out. In college, they really don't know anything about these girls coming in as Freshman. An interview process makes sense in the that regard. They want to know as much as they can about them.
The girls and I waited patiently while she was in there. It really didn't take very long in the interview, and Sadie felt really good about that part of it.
We went and found Sadie's dorm room. She was super pumped about that. She is already arranging her things in her head. Then we went and ate lunch in the Commons. Sophie felt like a pro because she had stayed there at church camp one year and knew all about the cafeteria.
After that we went to the general welcome session, then we split up. Sadie met with her advisor and got her schedule done for the upcoming semester. The little girls and I went to a parents meeting. I will say that Molly was not impressed with the parents meeting. She would have rather been anywhere else but there. She let out one loud high pressure leak signifying her disgust with the situation, but we made it through it.
After we got out of the there, the girls and I walked around campus until Sadie got through. We even hit the book store and got some purple OBU shirts.
We got to see Kaycee for a few minutes. She went to the morning session and we went to the afternoon session. But we got a picture of them together as we passed each other. Brittany and Sadie will be suite mates and Kaycee is on the same floor a few rooms down.
Before we left we got a picture with the Tiger. A must for every Tiger fan.
We ate dinner on the way home and got home about 5:30pm. I think all of us were in the bed by 8:30pm.
