Man-oh-Man my girls are growing up! It's something that you just don't see on a day to day basis. It's the little things that just out of no where poke you in the side and make you look and say, "Where does the time go?"
Last night during dinner, Sophie asked for some more mashed potatoes. She is a lover of mashed potatoes and mashed potatoes go all over her when she eats them. But I added a spoonful to her plate and told her how well she is eating. She smiled because she loves to be bragged on, and she says, "We don't say mo, we say m-o-r-e." The instant response was a puzzled look because I had no idea what she was talking about. So, of course, she repeated it. "We don't say mo, we say m-o-r-e." And she draws out the word "more" for like 9 seconds and enunciates it perfectly. I had to laugh because she is quite the little teacher and she insists that you understand and comprehend what she is talking about. She explained that there is a girl at school that says "mo" and Mrs. Verna says that we don't need to say "mo," we need to say "more" when we want some more. We all understood her point and as hilarious as I found it, I finally had to make her stop saying that sentence because she repeated it over and over and over and over.
Shortly after our English lesson at the dinner table, it became bath time. (Sadie would die if she knew I was writing about this, so we won't tell her.) Sadie, who is at the age where she is processing and learning things at a faster pace than Sophie, is focused on more than mashed potatoes and second helpings and how people pronounce words. Sadie has crossed a line that is very important in a young girl's life. She is venturing on the side of the life where you are concerned about how you look, and you argue about what clothes to wear, and you are getting interested in "girl" things, including boys.
My sweet little girl has grown so much that the hair on her legs has gotten long and thick enough to where she was gotten "aware" of them. I have been teasing her about it because it bothers her, but finally I gave in and let her shed her hairy legs so she won't have to brush them anymore. She hasn't been cut loose with a razor yet, but I did get her some Veet and last night she stayed in the bath tub for 45 minutes ridding her legs of the hair. She was so proud of her smooth legs last night.
The first step to womanhood.....no mo hairy legs!

You crack me up with the last sentence!! Sophie is such a big girl, and Sadie too. They are both so smart!! I'm so glad you finally gave in where Sadie could defuzz. No more brushing the legs! YAY!
I remember when Jamie started shaving her legs. She was so excited! She was just about Sadie's age too. Too funny about "no mo hairy legs".
