8 Point-Second day of muzzle loader season, October 19, 2008, at 9:53am.
This little feller thought he was going to sneak through the woods on me. He didn't know that I was prepared for a kill this year. There I was all camo-ed out, sitting in my deer stand. He crept through thinking he was sneaky, but I saw him. He didn't stop, so I reached in my new camo fanny pack and pulled out my new can call and grunt call. I thought he might be interested in coming back if he thought a doe was close and there was another buck there to get to her. So I called. He stopped.
But, I still didn't have a shot, so I thought (quickly I might add) that I might hit the grunt call again because it got his attention last time. I hit the grunt one short time. He stepped out from behind those trees looking my way. I decided (quickly again) that I may not have another shot and I was greedy. I took it. He ran.
Larry and I went down to where I shot him on the 4wheeler and couldn't find any blood. I pointed the direction of which way the big man was headed, and Larry started down a trail. Less than 50 yards, there he lay.
Larry was proud of me, Sadie was proud of me, Mom was proud of me, and I think Sophie is ready to call PETA.
My first big buck ever!!
