Fall Photos

So. This new camera. That isn't mine. But I get to play with. Whenever I want to. Is really turning out to be pretty fun! I am by no means what you would call even an "amateur photographer," but I am figuring a few things out. I realize that I have a long way to go. But luckily, I have some students to practice on.

Sadie and I went to Texarkana for an appointment this morning. We ate "brunch" at Waffle House before heading back, and then took a detour at a picnic/camping area by the dam. I thought the leaves and fall weather would be make the picnic area a perfect setting for some practice photos.

You can tell by the look on Sadie's face that she wasn't very interested in being my object for the day, but then I reminded her that I could take her straight back to school and she cooperated a little better.

We found a bench swing and tried to use that as a seat.

Those worked out fairly well, except the swing needed painting and Sadie wouldn't quit swinging and sit still.

I have been focusing on trying to get my subject focused and the background blurry. I shot several shots here and was pleased with my results.

Now if I can just remember how I did it. I changed the settings so many times that I can't remember which ones did what.

Some are a little too orangy looking. Some are a little overexposed. A couple are good enough for prints, but hey! That's what practice is for.

This next one probably is not a text book or photographer's pick. But I love the expression on her face. I think by this time, she was ready to go back to school. Notice that the background is blurry alright. But her face is all washed out. I'm just learning!! Don't be hatin'.

I think this next one might be on a billboard somewhere next month. Not sure what the ad would be, but I love the picture.

This one looks like a senior picture background. WoW! She's only 10. Look how good I will be in 8 more years.

I don't really like this pose that she threw out there, but I love how her blue eyes pop out. I'm thinking a crop would make this one my favorite of the day.

I have lots to learn about all of this stuff. But I really enjoy this and get really excited when I get some good results.

And I'm thankful for the people at home I have to practice with. There will be more to come.

Thank you Sadie!
