We are back to reality and the world and life as it is everyday. It was really nice to take a vacation and get away from it all. I am going to chronicle some of our highlights in parts. I will call this Part I, The Preview.

We flew from Little Rock to Dallas and then from Dallas to Las Vegas. The weather made it a rather bumpy ride. Flying is not my favorite thing in the world to do. I think I like the idea of being on an airplane. I just don't like the turbulence. I love the take off, but not so much the landing.

It is so beautiful above the clouds though. I love looking out the window at the world below me. I love the feeling of large that it gives me, like I am powerful, strong, glamorous, until an air pocket takes my breath away and makes my stomach feel like it dropped 10,000 feet.

So, I just try to rely on the pilot and relax as much as possible and soak it all in. I have decided that two flights in one day is just way too much. Next trip there will be no connecting flights. Straight to the destination baby!

I was pleased when the pilot announced that we would be flying over the Grand Canyon. That is a place that is also on "my list of things to do before I die." I was amazed at how massive it was even from 36,000 feet above the ground. It also made me very thirsty.

We also flew over Lake Mead. Located near Las Vegas, I was astounded at how blue the water was. I said that it made it look more blue because of the drab contrast of the desert and the water. It was a beautiful ocean blue. Even more blue than the photo depicts. Larry said that it was so blue because it doesn't rain very much there to stir it up and muddy it.

When we got home and reviewed all of my pictures, I realized that I had more pictures from the airplane than I did on the ground. That was only my second time on "the wings of a prayer." I think I am still fascinated. Timid, but fascinated.

*I didn't take my "good" camera because I didn't want anything to happen to it. It did compromise my vacation photos.)

The though of turbulence makes my head spin just sitting here. How cool that you got to fly over the Grnad Canyon though! Woo Hoo!
