I wanted to share with you an assignment that Sadie had to do in her AP English class.  It brought tears to my eyes and love to my heart.  She amazes me every day.  This is beautiful work.!!!

She was told to draw a number just as everyone in the class.  With their numbers, they were to look at a picture that was assigned to that number.  After they viewed the photo they were to either write an essay, a poem, or a short story about the photo.  None of the pictures were the same, but were various pictures regarding the tragedy of 9/11.  They were not allowed to bring the picture home, but the assignment was due the following day.

Sadie's photo, as she described it to me, was a picture of a blue chair in front of a podium with a Bible on top.  She chose to write a short story containing a character.  It was her heartfelt emotion when she viewed the photo.  She wrote the short story all alone.  Her words surprised me.  Her interpretation of the photo impressed me.  I am so proud of her.

The Importance of the Bible

There I was just sitting there on the podium.  I rarely had any visitors.  The few I had gotten were brief, one of a petite child crying over the death of her father in battle.  As a Bible, you would figure that more use would come of me.  However, as my time on this here podium, the only company near is the blue satin chair sitting before me.  Loneliness and feeling unwanted and unneeded are some of the most painful emotions known to humanity.

The jaw dropping tragedy of 9/11 changed my emotions in minutes.  Although I had no way of transportation to the scene, I was there.  I saw the black smoke and orange flames.  I smelled the burning gasoline of the jets that crashed.  I could feel the fringing of my pages because of the flames.  It was true terror.

Before that day, I had never had more visitors.  One visitor kneeled before me and said, "God, help me through this pain.  Help me to understand why this had to happen.  Why me, God? Why me?"  I could taste the tears soaking my pages.  I am here to show these people that there is hope for them and our nation.  "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world."  John 16:33

These people have come to me now when they need God's help.  So many tears for loved ones lost shed right in front of me.  My heart is ripping a little more each time.  God can and will help our 9/11 victims and my job is to proclaim it.  My job is to give all people the message from God that it will be okay.
