Spring Break was eventful. Sadie and I decided to do a little college visiting to give her some stress relief from the anxiety she has been having about what she wants to be when she grows up and where she wants to get her learning on. We picked two days and got in three colleges. We called MeMe and she was ecstatic to go with us.
The first visit was at OBU. MeMe didn't make the first one because she had a minor injury over the weekend and she had to make a stop at the doctor's office to get a tetanus shot and some antibiotics. (Cleaning out gutters can be dangerous.)
Sadie has been to the OBU campus before and she loved it. This has quickly turned into her number one pick.
We arrived for our tour and she was too excited to see they had reserved a spot for her with her name on the parking place. She was perky - Maybe a little excited - Maybe a little nervous. We met with Matthew and he took us all over the campus. OBU was on spring break too, so there wasn't many people on the campus. Nevertheless, he showed us all the buildings, lecture halls, classrooms, cafeteria, and dorms. Then we met with the Dean of Psychology, who Sadie loves loves loves. He spent almost an hour with us talking about life, college, and studies. Sadie left with a book from Dr. White, an OBU tshirt, and dreams of being a Tiger.

We grabbed a quick bite to eat and then caught up with MeMe. We went right across the street from OBU and visited HSU. Sadie was none impressed when we pulled up to park and she was only a "Guest" and her name wasn't on the sign. I don't think they could have done anything to impress her after her visit to OBU.
We met Courtney and she showed us around the campus. Things had changed a lot since I went to school there for a short time a long time ago. Courtney did a good job and showed us around. Sadie left with a HSU shirt that I ended up with. I was giving her a hard time about getting a bigger size for me since she didn't like HSU. Ironically, the medium size that she got was too big for her, so she gave it to me. Sadie just was not interested in going there. I think she had made her mind up before we got out of the car.
The last college that we visited on our trip was UCA. The campus was beautiful and I can imagine how much more beautiful it is in a few weeks when spring has really sprung. But I did not realize how big it was! It is big.
This tour wasn't as personable as the other two because there was a group of about 12, which is understandable because the campus and the student radio is much bigger. I would have liked for Sadie to see some classrooms and such there too, but the only building we went in was the gym and the food court. We all left UCA with a pair of purple sunglasses. MeMe and Sadie wore theirs. I set mine aside for Molly. Molly was excited because she had "college glasses."
I know that she will do well at any college. It really does not matter to me where she goes. I'm not pushing for her to go anywhere in particular. I just wanted her to see more than one or two campuses before she makes a decision. Of course, this trip solidified her desire to go to OBU. I have to admit, it would be my pick too out of the three we looked at. Now we will just wait and pray for guidance and the ability to send her wherever she wants to go.
Also on our trip we did a some dress shopping. Prom is right around the corner and we were looking for a dress. Sadie hates dress shopping. It is not fun for her in any way. Thankfully, MeMe was there to help. She made the shopping so much more fun.
Since Sadie isn't really fond of shopping for dresses, she picked out a few and didn't really like any of them after she tried them on. She then just stayed in the dressing room and we would take her dresses to try on and model. She finally got into it and had fun with it.
These are a few of the ones she tried on. She didn't like any of them. I was shooting for something with some color in it, because she always wears black or white or a combination thereof.
We finally found a dress she liked. MeMe insisted on getting it for her. She thinks it has to be a surprise so I can't post the dress that she picked out. But there will be plenty of pictures on prom night.
We ate at Market Place, also known as Micheal's. (inside joke) It was very good and we all loved the Boom Boom Shrimp. Sadie's appetizer pick. We all spent the night in Conway. MeMe and Sadie were party poopers and were in their pajamas by 8:00. We talked, we laughed, we joked, we had a good time!!
I don't know that the trip did any good as far as easing Sadie's anxiety. I think she was more stressed out after than before. I understand. It is a big decision. But we had a really good time just the three of us together. That doesn't happen very often.
