We do have other things in life besides football and Homecoming.  We are still enjoying AWANAs every Wednesday night.  Molly went through a spell where she wouldn't say her verse out loud to her teacher.  She just simply refused.  She always knows it and will say it when we get to the car.  She just wont say it in class.  I think we have that fixed now.  I made her a chart and put it on the refrigerator.  Every Wednesday, if she says her verse to her teacher, she gets a star on her chart.   That has done the trick so far.

Sadie is still doing BBASIC after school. (Big Brothers and Sisters in Christ)

This particular Wednesday, they helped package shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.

This is always fun for kids of all ages.

We went to a Halloween party.  Sophie didn't want me to order her a costume this year.  She had a morph suit that she got from Sadie and was convinced she was going to wear that and be a shadow for Halloween.  I tried and tried to convince her otherwise, but I finally gave up.

When we were getting dressed for the party, she put on the morph suit, which covers her whole body including her face, mouth, and eyes.  I asked her how she was going to be able to eat snacks at the party.  She quickly realized that I was right and went scrambling for another costume.  I had this one in the closet that I had gotten Sadie a couple of years ago that she never wore.  Sophie put it on and loved it!! I think it helped that Sadie posed as a zombie a couple of weeks before, so she made it cool to be a zombie.

I didn't want Molly to mess up her real Halloween costume.  So, I told her to go look in her dress up stuff and find something to wear.  She came back with this witch dress.  I gave in pretty quickly.

The party was fun.  The girls loved it.

Sophie volunteered to work in the cafeteria one day last week.  She came home and told me all about it.  She got to serve the refried beans.  She was a little excited about all that.

She also got to have her picture made with a baby kangaroo.  They had some kind of assembly at school.  I'm not sure why or what it was about.  The only thing I understood about it was that she needed money so she could have her picture made with an animal.  I also tried to get some details after this assembly.  I still don't know what it was about.

Molly has been patiently waiting on Halloween to get here.  She has been asking every single day if it was Halloween yet.  I don't understand what is so exciting about it.  They dress up and eat candy every day anyway.

This is what it sometimes looks like at my house in the evenings.  It makes my heart happy to be in the kitchen cooking supper and these sweet girls sitting at the bar doing their homework.

Larry surprised me with an early birthday present.  I have said numerous times that I would love to learn to play the guitar.  I guess I'm going to get the opportunity to try it.  I'm pretty excited about it.  I hope I can get it figured out.

Sophie has really done good this year.  We had our first report cards come home.  She made all A's again.

I am really impressed with her.  She is making good grades and cares about her work.

So proud of her!!
