Molly turned five.
Against all my wishes.
It seems like they go from five to ten to twenty in a matter of months.
She was excited about turning five. We have anticipated it for weeks. She has counted down for days.
We took cupcakes to Mrs. Verna's because Verna said they were going to have a party.
Little did I know that Verna got the stuff that Molly told her to get and let Molly bake her own birthday cake.
She supervised and helped a little, but Molly did most of the work.
She insisted on a strawberry cake,
with strawberry icing.
And she said it was DELICIOUS!!
Sophie had a basketball game that evening. Molly was a hit there because everyone told Molly happy birthday. She even got to sit on the players' bench with the girls.
Then we went to Western Sizzlin. Molly's choice, of course.
And we had a little mini party at home afterwards.
Strawberry cake that Sadie had made her. She was a little mad because it didn't have strawberry icing, but she got over it quick because she was still full from Western Sizzlin.
Presents in the mail from MeMe.
And more presents from us.
It was hard to shop for her. She is really into Barbies right now. So I got all her favorite Disney girls in Barbie format.
Funny story. She takes Barbies to Mrs. Verna's almost every day to play with. Her friend Bailey likes to play with them too. Apparently Molly is pretty good about sharing with her. So the next morning after her birthday, we are heading out the door and she asked to take her new Barbies. I tell her that she can take 3 today. She goes to her room and gets 4. I told her that I said only 3 today and that she can take 3 other ones tomorrow.
She says, "But Mom, if I take three then me or Bailey will only have one to play with. If I take four then we will both have two to play with."
I immediately thought....what a genius!! She just turned five and she just did that math and some real complex thinking right there."
I told her that she was absolutely right and that she was really smart and she could take four Barbies today.
I hope she doesn't try for five tomorrow.
