Then a little bit later this dude carrying this sign stopped us and asked Larry to hold it for him. I can't believe Larry held it, but he did. He then took our picture altogether with it....for a tip of course.
Then a little later we saw this lady. Larry couldn't believe his eyes. He stopped me and showed her to me. I went over and asked her if I could take her picture with her sign. She agreed. I did give her $2.00. I don't usually contribute to people buying weed, but I felt it necessary after I took her picture.
And just for the record. She had about 3 rotten teeth in her mouth. Drugs are not good for you.
We absolutely stopped at the Lucky Dog stand. Molly and I got a Lucky Dog. If you have never had one, I highly recommend you get one as soon as you can. They are the best hot dogs in the world!
We also went to Jackson Square. It was closed when we were there. I could spend all day in Jackson Square alone.
That is a good reason to make another trip back.
We checked out the Mississippi River.
Molly was pretty excited we were going to be sailing away down that muddy river the next day.
We also took a carriage ride in the French Quarter. The girls loved Jenny the mule. She was pretty smart.
After the buggy ride, we strolled back up Bourbon Street. It was quickly getting dark and time for the girls to go to the hotel room.
Larry took Sophie and Molly to the room and Sadie and I strolled a little more on Bourbon. It took forever to find a place that would let Sadie in. But we finally did. There was a cool little band there doing Motown songs. They were pretty awesome. We hung out there for a while and then headed back to the room.
Most everyone we saw was very friendly. Strangers would speak or give us high fives while passing them on the street. We did see some unusual things here and there. But the most interesting thing was when we were headed back to the room. We were approaching this guy on the sidewalk. Nothing out of the way for where we were. We we got almost even to him, he jumped out in front of us with his arms spread out and gave a loud "RAHHHHHHHH!!"
I will admit that it startled me a little bit. I grabbed Sadie's arm and drug her behind me. I pointed my finger at him and nervously laughed at him and said, "HaHa you got me!" He just laughed and kept going.
Sadie and I laughed about it all the way to the room. I didn't realize it at the time but there was a police officer just behind us. I knew we had just passed these two mounted patrolman. But in that instant I was caught off guard and my heart skipped a beat.
It makes for a good story anyway.
