Just to catch up on the recent happenings that I have failed to document:
Sophie and I planted a small garden. Sophie has been working in the school garden and has really enjoyed it. I have been wanting to do a garden for a long long time, so when she asked me about it I jumped on it. We decided that this is a trial and we will learn from our mistakes. So here's to hoping that our garden will produce produce.
The school also had an art show at the end of the year. It was at the arena and there was art EVERYWHERE. It was pretty cool. Sophie was not impressed and did not want to stand by her masterpiece for a picture.
Molly, however, was very proud of her masterpiece and wanted to show her dog off. I was really impressed with Molly's masterpiece as well. I didn't know she had that little skill.
My BFF came down for a visit. It's always so good to see them. It was exactly was my heart needed.
They are the sweetest little family. Dylan is leaving later this summer for the Navy. I am scared and excited for him at the same time. I hope we can all get together at least one more time before he leaves.
We all attended Aftershock while they were here. It was an awesome student led worship assembly held at Scrapper Arena. I loved that we all were there together. It was amazing to see that many students of all ages come to worship God. It truly was a blessing.
AWANAs is over for the year. These girls love it. It is a little sad because this is Sophie's last year for AWANAs. (I hate that she is growing up. She will be moved up to youth this fall.) We just got a new youth pastor and I think we have a good youth group. I am excited to watch her grow, but sad that she is growing. Doesn't make sense, but that's what I feel.
Larry went hunting twice this year in Missouri and a thousand times in Arkansas. He brought home three turkeys though. It makes for a good southern supper. We had to trick the kids and tell them there was chicken strips and turkey strips. They loved the "chicken" but not the turkey.
We went to the Peach Festival in town. Sophie and Molly had never been on the firetruck. So we took advantage of this situation.
Finally.... Sadie came home for the summer. We are all excited that she is home, but nobody is more happy than me. I know that every summer could be the last summer she comes home to our house to hang out and leave dirty clothes all over the place. One day soon she will have her own house and own family. I will totally miss having them all living at my house, but I will totally go to her house and throw and clean clothes all over her house.
