I
just got back from my very first cruise. It was very fun and I am glad that I went, but I was so glad to get back home. I missed my hunnie and my babies tremendously.
We left out of New Orleans headed to Mexico on Monday, February 6. We drove down to New Orleans the Sunday before and had to make a few stops at some of my favorites.
Cat's Meow, of course.
There are more, but I couldn't load all the pictures that I took, so we are just hitting the high spots here. I will say that I did not leave Bourbon Street without a lucky dog.
(I made Jamie, Julie, and Diane proud.)
We left the dock at 4:00pm on Monday. On Tuesday we had a "fun day at sea." Wednesday we docked at Progresso, Mexico and went ashore for a little fun and sightseeing.
Our ship was the Carnival Elation. It was very nice. It held a little over 2000 passengers. Not a really big ship, but the biggest one I had ever been on or seen. We shared a Deluxe Suite with a balcony and it was very nice. I peeked into some of the smaller rooms and was so thankful for the room that we had.
The four of us: Jane, MJ, Louise, and I, participated in a lot of activities on board. There was bingo, shopping, deck parties, shows, a casino, games shows, trivia games, karaoke bars, comedy clubs, and much more. The food was good and you were not going to go hungry. There was food at your fingertips 24 hours a day.
At Progresso, we toured the town of Merida, which is the capital of Yucatan. It was just a short bus ride from Progresso. We visited this cathedral that was built in the 1800s.
It was very neat and held alot of history. We also toured the government office building of Merida where the govenor and the mayor are both females. (very interesting)
We then learned how to make 3 different kinds of salsa and learned how to do the salsa.
Both very fun.
On Thursday, we docked at Cozumel. We got off of the ship and took a taxi to the Cozumel Country Club where we played golf. It was a balmy 95 degrees that day. Wonderful weather and beautiful golf course.
This course was home to much wildlife. We saw iguanas, wild hogs, alligators, and all kinds of different birds.
We boarded the ship by 4:30pm, as required, and got ready for another "fun day at sea" on Friday. We sailed all night Thursday night, all day Friday and Friday night, and arrived back at the port of New Orleans by 700am Saturday morning.
I can mark that off of my bucket list and prepare for my next adventure, whenever that may be. It won't be any time soon, for I am still doing laundry and spending every minute with my little ones to make up for the time I was away from them.

Oh look at you singing at the Cat's Meow! So jealous of your Lucky Dog! So proud! Now I want one. You must have had a ball with so much to do on the high seas! I know Larry and your girls missed you as much as you missed them!
Love the new page BTW!!
First of all, love the new look! Secondly, I am jealous in a good way that you went on an all girls cruise! How fun!
Secondly, I am blown away that you were singing....didn't know you had it in you. Must have been the lucky dog or hurricane!?! HA!
Lastly, I went on an overnight trip and like to have freaked OUT so I cannot imagine being gone for a whole week without my kiddos. I am such a homebody!
Secondly, secondly? I am still trying to recover from my overnight trip! HA!
I'm glad you had a good time. Is it weird that I'm more jealous of your night in New Orleans than I am of your cruise? or is that what you would expect? LOL
