Basketball season is under way.  Sophie has really been looking forward to it.  This year has been a little different.  Sophie begged and begged to go to the draft this year.  We don't have a clue why because it is not required or even encouraged, but she really wanted to go.  So, Larry caved in and took her.

So, Larry and Sophie went to the draft.  The next thing I know, Larry is the coach of Sophie's team.

He said that there were not enough coaches and they asked him if he would coach a team and he felt like he couldn't say no.  So, Larry was not real sure about it, but Sophie was thrilled about it and Larry will never go to another draft again.

But he got busy and started scheduling practices.  Sophie didn't like that part so much.  Larry makes them do line drills, which Sophie hates.  That makes for more line drills.  Molly loves loves loves to go to the practices and she loves doing line drills.  That makes Sophie hate them even more.

We are about half way through the season right now.  Sophie has improved so much from last year when she first started.  She is more confidant with the ball and she is definitely a hustler.

The down side to Larry being a new coach is that he knew nothing about the girls he was picking for his team.  They are all sweet sweet girls, but our experience level as a team is very low.
The upside to Larry being the coach is that Molly can help coach and be in on the action.  She even got a matching team shirt.  If you are wondering, yes she does give orders.

There is one team that we have beat and it was by one point.  Our girls are feisty on defense, but we don't have any shooters and can't score any points.

Larry told the girls and the parents starting out that he had never done this before and his only goal was that they improved during the season, learned the fundamentals, and had fun, win or lose.  I'm super proud of him.  He's a good coach.
