Here begins the journey of our Spring Break trip to Arizona to visit Grandma Geri. The little girls were way excited about the trip, although Sophie was extremely nervous about flying. She has been on a plane before when she was two, but didn't remember it of course. I was way excited about Sadie being with us all week long.
Monday morning we headed out to Shreveport to the airport. We didn't leave that early because the flight didn't leave until 1:20pm. We left early enough to stop and get something good to eat before the adventure and to go through security at the airport.
Molly was so excited that she had to take a nap on the way to Shreveport. Sophie was too nervous to sleep.
Sadie was just happy to be out of school for a week. I think she was excited about our trip, but more excited about just going somewhere.
We had time to kill at the airport of course. So we took lots of pictures. This was the "theme" of our trip. Sadie wanted to take our picture and I wrapped my hands around Larry's neck and so the whole rest of the week, we continued that scenario.
It made for pretty cute pictures though.
Then everyone had to pose with DAD.
Then I tried to get a picture of the three of them. After a million deletes, this is the best one I got.
Finally, we boarded the plane. Molly was so antsy. Her anticipation was high.
Sophie wasn't too bad until the engines started.
Sadie recorded her reaction.
Sadie asked her what is the worst that could happen. Sophie said, "Um, we could crash and all die!"
After we got in the air, Sophie was fine. Molly loved the takeoff, but when we got up above the clouds it was pretty boring to her.
She would look at the window occasionally, but mostly played on her tablet.
We landed and got our rental car picked up and headed west. We came to an overlook in Boulder City, NV and stopped there to look and take a few pictures.
Then wind was blowing and the sun was the wrong way for pictures.
We took some anyway.
We got back on the road and listened to music and drove. It was about a 3 1/2 hour drive to Wickenburg from Vegas.
We made a pit stop in Wickieup.
We had to stretch our legs, potty, and get some snacks.
With about an hour left to go, the girls were already tired of traveling.
They probably got that from me. I am usually not a good traveler.
We finally arrived at Grandma Geri's at about 8:00pm. She was so happy to see us and so glad that we were there. Molly's first order of business was to make friends with Raven.
After a little visiting, we all went to bed. I think everyone was ready for some rest.
