Molly is three. She will be four in February. She is a mess! All the time! But just when I think I have seen it all, she always proves me wrong.
She hates her hair up. Some days I get away with putting it up in a ponytail or pulling it half up in a ponytail, but most days she takes it out before I pick her up. Lately she has been leaving it up more often because she wants her ears pierced. I told her that she couldn't get her ears pierced until she learned how to leave her hair pretty because you wouldn't be able to see her earrings for the hair that she loves hanging in her face. It has improved things, but didn't cure anything.
Yesterday, I went to get some Christmas shopping done. Larry picked the girls up from daycare. He calls me to let me know that Molly had cut her hair while she was at daycare. He was livid! I was a little concerned but also laughing a little because Molly always does the things that scares me to death as a mother. The thing is I don't freak out like I think I would have with the other two. Maybe because I'm older and wiser. Maybe because I know Molly's personality and not much surprises me with her.
I tell him to put her on the phone. Her sweet little voice says, "Momma I just cut my hair." I said, "Yes, I heard. Why did you cut your hair?" She said, "Because I just did." She goes on to tell me that Daddy whipped her butt and she had to take a bath to get all the hair off of her. I said, "Molly, I really can't believe you cut your hair, you know better than that. Does it look ugly?" Her response was, "Not anymore!!"
I couldn't wait to get home and see what damage was done. Of course as soon as I get there she is ready to show me like it was the hot new style of the season or something. She is thinking she did a good job.!! I can't convince her otherwise.
The truth is it could have been a lot worse. It looks like she wacked off about half of her ponytail that was up. (It was only half up.) And she took a few inches off of the right side where it was down, but other than being uneven, it's really not that bad. She has never had a hair cut before. I guess it's time to make her an appointment.

Lord help me, I just laughed out loud at the "not anymore" comment! What have we got on our hands?
